It has been a busy first few months of 2022 on site! We’re excited to update you on some significant milestones that we’ve achieved for both Phases 1 and 2 and share some progress photos.
PHASE ONE
As completion continues to approach, we realize that many of you are anxiously awaiting moving into your new homes. We can assure you that our number one focus is welcoming you all to 50 Electronic Avenue in time to set up your BBQs and outdoor furniture to enjoy the summer on your new balconies and rooftop decks.
As we mentioned in our last update, construction is at various stages throughout the building and is progressing from west to east from the 6th floor down. The upper floors of the west wing of the building are nearly complete; the finer details of each home are coming together.
Throughout the west wing of the building, flooring, cabinetry and countertops are complete and appliances are being installed. Final touches such as plumbing and light fixtures are also continuing to be installed. Soon these homes will all get their final clean, temporary protection will be removed from the floors, countertops and cabinetry and the doors will be locked until we begin homeowner orientations.
The centre wing of Phase 1, is following behind with all drywall now complete. Painting, cabinetry and flooring installation is currently underway.
Entry doors were recently delivered for the centre wing and they are now being installed. While they look great from inside the suites, they look even better from the corridors. We think you’ll love the common area finishes – an element that you didn’t get to see in the Presentation Centre.
In the east wing, drywall boarding, mudding and taping is underway. We’re thrilled to be at the point where all homes are in their interior finishing stages and rough-in work is complete.
Lastly, as many of you have seen already, the exterior of Phase 1 is coming together nicely with the continuation of brick and cladding work. As the weather improves we are pushing to have as many hands on deck as possible to work on the exterior of the building.
PHASE TWO
After seeing photos of the interior of Phase 1, the Phase 2 construction update may seem less exciting but we’ve recently achieved a huge milestone: the concrete slab of the underground parking area is complete all the way to the eastern edge of the property. We are excited to be at a point where we no longer have any open excavation. We have a few more pours of concrete left until the Phase 2 portion of the parkade and podium is complete. The image below is from a concrete pour in early March.
Framing is continuing to progress eastward and we are now more than 50% complete. The images in this update are already slightly out of date, if you’ve driven past the site recently you’ve probably noticed even more progress than what is shown in these images.
Similar to Phase 1, the construction of Phase 2 is being completed in sections; since this building is larger than Phase 1 we are treating it as four wings. Roofing work is progressing on the western wing of the building and window installation is nearly complete. Shortly the next wing will follow suit.
